Hi! I’m Kayla!
And I’m so glad you are here! I currently live in Santiago, Chile with my wonderful family. My roots are in the midwest but I grew up moving all around.
The top photo is of my happy place… I adore the beach, warm weather and palm trees. I’m a bit Type A and I love a good adventure! My latest adventure is learning how to be a good plant mom (I’m trying oh-so-hard to have a green thumb)!
This Overseas Life came about after years of living in foreign countries. I’ve lived in five different countries and visited… a lot. I’m a nomad and an adventurer and my favorite feeling in the world is getting off the plane and stepping foot into a new country for the first time… adventure awaits!
But living abroad sometimes can be TOUGH. The items you know and love can’t always be found, and even if you are lucky enough to find your favorite brand of peanut butter, the next time you go it is out of stock!
I was telling a friend about my idea for This Overseas Life, and he asked, “Why don’t you just Yelp! it?!” I kindly informed my well-meaning friend that Yelp! doesn’t exist overseas! I have been the member of dozens of WhatsApp groups, but haven’t found it to be the best way to store and search through the wealth of info! So this is my attempt at collecting all the helpful “datos” to help make your life overseas a bit easier.
